Fleadh Cheoil 2022 to host Ireland’s first sustainable and circular campsite

This year's Fleadh Cheoil in Mullingar will be host to Ireland’s first fully circular campsite, offering a more sustainable accommodation option to festival goers.

This summer sees the long awaited return of the annual Fleadh Cheoil, with the week-long traditional music festival expected to attract around 500,000 visitors. While camping has long been an option to festival goers over the years, for the first time attendees can avail of Ireland’s first fully sustainable and circular festival campsite, RE:VOLVE.

The RE:VOLVE campsite, whose main entrance is located along the Robinstown link road, offers a sustainable and family friendly camping experience, with quality facilities such as solar-powered hot showers, eco-friendly toilets and a sustainable food hub, as well as 24 hour security.

These facilities are the kind usually only found at permanent campsites, meaning RE:VOLVE will also provide a premium and more comfortable campsite experience. Campers will be able to build their own camping experience, including the option to book pre-pitched tents and hire camping equipment such as chairs and airbeds, encouraging campers to leave no trace.

The entrance to the campsite is off the road between the Delvin Road and the Castlepollard Road in Mullingar - see map below.

Megan Best, Native Events director and part of the team behind RE:VOLVE, said: “RE:VOLVE has been a few years in the making and along with the other half of our team at No Disco, we’re delighted to work together with Fleadh Cheoil and Westmeath County Council to be able to bring RE:VOLVE campsite to this year's Fleadh, one of the biggest events on Ireland’s music and festival calendar.

“Over the last decade or so festival camping has got itself a poor reputation due to the amount of waste left behind and damage to the local environment, RE:VOLVE challenges this system and instead provides a solution to enable Irish festival goers to leave no trace when it comes to camping.”

As well as offering a sustainable camping experience, the RE:VOLVE campsite provides a unique design including island hubs for creativity, family-friendly entertainment, and will showcase brand new climate-inspired art installations from local artists.

Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann will take place in Mullingar this year between 31 July and 7 August 2022. Tickets for RE:VOLVE at Fleadh Cheoil can be purchased online here.
