Kinnegad Plaza and Holy Family NS are stops on this year's Bumblebee 1000 Supercar Road Trip

The Kinnegad Plaza and Holy Family National School in Mullingar are stop-offs on the route for this year’s Bumblebee 1000 Supercar Road Trip, which is raising money for the charity Little Blue Heroes.

Little Blue Heroes supports a variety of youth-based projects for seriously ill children all over Ireland.

The event is on the weekend of June 17-19, and after starting from Barberstown Castle, County Kildare, at 9am that Friday, the convoy is expected at the Kinnegad Plaza at 10.30am and at Holy Family NS at 11.30am.

The entry of more than 100 vehicles includes supercars, Group B cars, and futuristic hypercars.

Social media stars like Suzanne Jackson of SoSueMe, Louise Clarke of iRadio, Al Foran Comedy, Bob Flavin, Alan Clarke Official, Tony Stark of Stark Industries, and Bumblebee the Transformer, will be joining other automotive influencers to share the adventure through their YouTube, TikTok and Instagram channels, making it easy to follow the action.

The Little Blue Heroes will wave the start flag at Barberstown Castle on Friday June 17 to set drivers off on the first leg of their trip towards the west coast.

Over the three days, participants will cross Ireland twice and travel the Wild Atlantic Way, creating a moving festival of cars and automotive music at the many stops on the way to the finish line in Merrion Square at 4pm on Sunday June 19.

On the Saturday evening in Galway, the annual Bumblebee 1000 Gala Ball fundraising event will include a VIP invitation-only charity auction of rare items and sporting memorabilia. The Bumblebee 1000 Awards will also be the presented at the ball.

Some of the Bumblebee 1000 line up of cars are available to view online on Bumblebee1000 socials, where fans can like and thumb ups their favourite cars and driving clips on Instagram.

Participants will be driving cars such as Lamborghini, Maclaren, Ferrari, Mercedes, Nissan GT-Rs, and a Group B Ford RS200.

The donation target this year is €50,000.

These stops over the 3 days afford a great up-close supercar viewing opportunity.

Little Blue Heroes

The 2022 Bumblebee 1000 Supercar Road Trip is run this year in support of the Garda Síochána supported Little Blue Heroes charity. Through the normal duties of local gardaí, they are often in a position to identify families with children that have serious illness in their own districts who require assistance.

This charity aims to help families who have children undergoing long-term medical treatment for serious illness. At any one time, there are 1,400 critically ill children in Ireland with an additional 400 seriously ill children diagnosed each year.

The name ‘Little Blue Heroes’ came about when they found that a large number of the children they support have a strong fascination with police uniform, equipment and vehicles. This has even led some of the children to make a wish to become honorary gardaí and become part of the garda family.
