Traffic light at Dublin Bridge moved - council to monitor junction

Following an assessment of the Dublin Bridge junction in Mullingar by an independent traffic light technician, an extra traffic light pole has been installed and an existing traffic light relocated, Cllr Andrew Duncan was told at the July meeting of the Municipal District of Mullingar Kinnegad.

Cllr Duncan who, along with other members, had raised this issue a number of times at council meetings, welcomed the announcement. He was assured that the situation would be monitored to see if further improvements could be made.

He also welcomed news that installation of a fence or barrier at Valley Bungalows, Mullingar, is to be considered this year and asked that it be progressed as quickly as possible.

Cllr Duncan had called for a fence or barrier adjoining the lane accessing Grange and Patrick Street at the Valley Bungalows side because it is being used as a shortcut to Lidl and the areas maintained by the Valley Bungalow residents are being damaged.

Cllr Duncan was also told that preparatory background work is under way on the new Mullingar Local Area Plan with an issues plan to be published by the end of the year.
