Weather dial set to get hot, hot, hot!

A Weather Advisory for Ireland gets underway today, Wednesday, continuing through the rest of the week and the weekend.

Temperatures are expected to reach the mid to high twenties during this time, remaining uncomfortably warm overnight too.

Today, Wednesday, will be a dry, warm and sunny day, with highest temperatures of 23 to 26 degrees, higher in some spots of Leinster.

Tonight will be dry and clear with mist and fog developing in places. Lowest temperatures 8 to 13 degrees in light winds or calm conditions.

It will be warm, dry and sunny again tomorrow, Thursday, and again hottest in Munster and Leinster. Highest temperatures of 24 to 28 degree.

A warm night Thursday night with temperatures not falling below 10 to 15 degrees generally, staying above 16 or 17 degrees in places.

Friday and Saturday will be hot and sunny with a low chance of isolated showers. Highest temperatures of 25 to 28 or 29 degrees in light variable breezes, hottest inland. Staying warm overnight with temperatures not falling below the mid to high teens.

Another hot day on Sunday with sunshine to start, there's an increased likelihood of showers, and they could be heavy. Temperatures 25 to 29 degrees with light easterly breezes.

Current indications suggest that temperatures will fall back closer to average for the time of year from next Monday with low pressure taking over and bringing showers.

Impacts

The impacts of the hot spell is that it can cause heat stress, especially among the more vulnerable of the population. There will also be a High Solar UV index, so make sure to wear sunscreen, while there is also a higher risk of water related incidents so people are advised to take care while swimming in inland and open waterways.
