Planning sought for EV charging station in Mullingar

SSE Airtricity has applied for planning permission for a new Electrical Vehicle (EV) charging station in Mullingar.

The application includes details for the construction of five EV charging stations and three canopies, which will have solar panels on top, as well as a disabled access toilet, at Site 36, Lough Sheever Corporate Park.

In its application letter, SSE Airtricity says that the proposed development will be part of an intended nationwide network of managed charging stations. The energy firm also says that there is a "demonstrated need for additional EV charging facilities in the county".

The letter states that the site of the proposed charging station is "strategically located on the edge of Mullingar town for the facilitation of commercial and domestic transportation as well as supporting local employment opportunities".
