Franciscans ask for prayers following passing of Fr Florian Farrelly

The Franciscan Friary in Rossnowlagh, County Donegal have confirmed the passing of Fr Florian Farrelly, who was based in Multyfarnham.

In a statement on their Facebook page, the Franciscans wrote:

“Dear friends and patrons of the friary, it is with great sadness that I bring you the news that Fr Florian has returned to his loving God.

“He died from a motor accident yesterday afternoon.

“Please keep his family and our community in your prayers please. Funeral details to follow.”

The accident happened at Newcastle West, County Limerick, yesterday, Wednesday September 7, according to a garda press statement.

LARCC Cancer Support Centre expressed their condolences.

On their Facebook page, they stated:

“Our sincerest sympathies go to the family, friends and Franciscan Community of Fr Florian Farrelly OFM who are grieving his loss and sudden and untimely passing.

“Fr Florian was a dear friend of ours here in LARCC, having been Guardian here next door to us in the Franciscan Friary Multyfarnham for three years until August 2020.

“Many are the great chats and laughs we had, and we know he kept our work in his prayers at all times.

“Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam dílis.”
