Westmeath Pony Club member Kevin Healy, who won the Junior Irish Pony Club National Eventing Championship in Tattersalls last weekend with his horse Kilbunny Kabana. Kevin is receiving his prize from Michael Essame, chairman of the Irish Pony Club.

Westmeath Pony Club youths in action at Tattersalls

Westmeath Pony Club members Robyn Carey, Ellen Pearson, Orlagh O’Brien, Gemma Whyte, Kevin Healy, Erin Cleary, Meghan Dunne, Aodhan Malone and Síbeal Egan all qualified to represent Westmeath in the Irish Pony Club National Eventing Championship in Tattersalls on August 27/28.

There were over 380 competitors from all over Ireland who all had to ride three phases of the competition: dressage, showjumping and cross country.

Westmeath Pony Club had great success with Kevin Healy from Kinnegad, a fifth year student in Columba College, Killucan taking first place and finishing on his dressage score in the Junior Competition on his horse Kilbunny Kabana.

Robyn Carey from Castlepollard, a fifth year student in St Finian’s College, Mullingar took second place in the Intermediate class on her pony Atlantic Clover Star.

Meghan Dunne from Killucan, a third year student at St Joseph’s Secondary School, Rochfortbridge, won a best turned out prize for her pony Mohill Molli.
