'Amazing' Garth a huge hit will local country fans

Country music superstar Garth Brooks played his first Irish gigs in 25 years at the weekend and for the hundreds of local fans who made the journey to Croke Park it was worth the wait.

In a post on the Westmeath Examiner's Facebook page, self professed “super fan” Angela Wilson from Mullingar says that Brooks was “amazing”.

“I have been to all three shows so far and going to the other two next week. I can't wait to see him again. Superfan here. Tonight [Sunday] was extra special as our little boy Corey came with us, also a huge fan.”

John and Dani McGovern from Ballinalack said that they had a “brilliant night” at Saturday's concert.

“Brilliant, managed to get accessible tickets last minute as they were like gold dust. It was an absolutely brilliant night from start to finish.”

Susie Lambert said that Brooks and his wife, fellow country singer Trish Yearwood, were “amazing”.

“He had the crowd in the palm of his hands. He was very emotional at times, but he sang just like his recordings...”

Ciara Killeen attended Friday and Saturday night's concerts and said that he was “absolutely brilliant both nights”.

Brianan Begley Cullen said that as soon as she got home from Sunday night's gig she started looking for tickets for Friday's concert. It was “amazing”, she said.

Samantha Courtney-Hunt had a night to remember.

“OMG it was absolutely amazing, didn't take my phone out once was spectacular,” she posted on the Westmeath Examiner's Facebook page.”

Liz Garry had such a good time that she's going again this weekend.

“Absolutely amazing, went Friday night, bought another ticket yesterday [Saturday] going again next Friday night.”
