Mullingar Concert Band – of the community, for the community

The Mullingar Concert Band celebrate Culture Night on Friday, September 23, with a performance in the Band Hall, under the baton of conductor John Walsh. Entry is free and the concert starts at 7pm.

This is a great opportunity to see the band perform in their own rehearsal hall, to meet members and find out more about the Concert Band, as well as everything else that Mullingar Town Band have to offer.

About the Mullingar Concert Band

The Mullingar Concert Band, with conductor John Walsh at the helm, was launched in autumn 2021 with the aim of encouraging adult musicians of varying standards to join together to play music, learn, socialise and have fun.

It is a part of, but also a natural extension of, the renowned Mullingar Town Band and many members previously played with the band. New members are warmly welcomed.

The Concert Band have a dedicated management committee, drawn from the members of the band, whose role includes co-ordinating all aspects of the programming of the music and organisation of rehearsals and performances.

Director of the Mullingar Town Band, Kim Magee, has played an integral part in setting up the Concert Band, and this new structure allows her delegate some of the day to day work of managing the band to the members of the committee.

With concerts already being planned for Christmas and Easter the workload is already starting to pile up!

The current management committee are: Aoife O’Reilly, Orla Duncan, Damien McDonnell and Padraig McCaul.

Mullingar Concert Band are rooted in the local community and aim to bring the best of music and entertainment to the Mullingar community.
