Mix of sunny spells and scattered showers on cold, windy day

Today will be windy and will feel cold in fresh to strong and gusty westerly winds. Rain in the east and southeast will clear through the morning, leaving a mix of sunny spells and scattered showers for the rest of the day. Some of the showers will be heavy and thundery at times, before becoming isolated for the evening. Highest afternoon temperatures of 10 to 15 degrees, mildest in the southeast.

Tonight will start largely dry and clear. Scattered showers will spread from the west overnight, potentially turning heavy in places. Remaining breezy in moderate to fresh southwest winds, strong along western and northwestern coasts. Lowest temperatures of 7 to 11 degrees.

Tomorrow will be a blustery and showery day, with scattered showers in the morning, turning heavy at times and becoming more frequent by afternoon. The best of any sunny spells will be in the south and southeast. Highest temperatures of 13 to 17 degrees, in moderate to fresh and gusty southwest winds, strong at times in the west and northwest.

Clear spells and scattered showers to start Thursday night. A band of more persistent rain will spread from the northwest overnight, turning heavy in places. Rather breezy with moderate to fresh and gusty southwest winds. Lowest temperatures of 9 to 13 degrees.

Breezy with rain or showers to end this week. A brief drier spell on Saturday before it turns wetter again on Sunday.

Any lingering rain will clear to the southeast on Friday morning. A mix of sunny spells and scattered showers will follow for the rest of the day. Feeling cool with highest afternoon temperatures of 11 to 15 degrees in moderate westerly winds.

Turning largely dry early on Friday night with clear spells and isolated showers. Quite chilly with lowest temperatures of 5 to 9 degrees in light westerly winds.

Saturday is expected to be a much drier day with sunny spells and just a few light showers. Highest temperatures of 12 to 15 degrees in light to moderate southwesterly winds.

It will stay mostly dry on Saturday night with clear spells to start. However, it will turn cloudier overnight with rain developing in some western areas towards morning. Lowest temperatures of 8 to 11 degrees in light to moderate southerly winds, freshening overnight.

Becoming wet and windy on Sunday as rain spreads eastwards across the country. Southerly winds will increase fresh, turning strong at times in the west. Highest temperatures of 13 to 16 degrees.

Further outlook: Current indications suggest that it will turn drier for a time early next week before further rain spreads from the west towards midweek.
