Catherine Leavey, Mary McCormack, Anne McDonagh and Helen O'Gorman, Mullingar ICA Guild, winners of the Harvest Platter competition at the Westmeath ICA Federation meeting.

Westmeath ICA Federation

The federation meeting was on 18 October in the Horseleap Streamstown Community Centre. It was well attended by all guilds, with apologies from Athlone, Tang and Collinstown Guilds. The host for the night was the Brotenstown Ballinea Guild.

Condolences were expressed to members who recently lost family members, and to the people from Creeslough on their tragedy. A minute’s silence was held.

The minutes from the June meeting were read. The Harvest Platter was the competition and Mullingar Guild were the winners.

The speaker for the night was Anne Moran from Age Friendly Ireland, whose four main objectives are: to enable older people to continue living in their homes; live with a sense of independence and autonomy; be and feel part of their community; and support the avoidance of early or premature admission to long term residential care.

The Guilds are keeping busy and spoke about their recent activities, which included trips to Donegal, Dublin, Westport and An Grianán. Ann McDonagh from Mullingar displayed a beautiful piece which she made in An Grianán.

€370 was collected at the Walk for ACWW on 11.06.22 at Belvedere House.
