Traffic calming measures needed on Delvin road - Davitt

Traffic calming measures are needed on the Delvin Road, Cllr Aoife Davitt says.

At the October meeting of Mullingar Kinnegad Municipal District, Cllr Davitt said that some form of “safety measures” are needed on the Delvin Road “to calm traffic between Lakepoint Retail Park and Lakepoint estate".

Responding to Cllr Davitt's query, the MKMD said: “The Delvin Road, Mullingar has been identified as an 'Urban Primary Route' in the draft National Cycle Network being prepared by the NTA. Accordingly, the section of the road between the Lakepoint Housing Estate and the Lakepoint Retail Park will be referred to the Active Travel Team to consider seeking funding for a protected off-road cycleway on the Western side. This would narrow the carriageway and reduce traffic speed.”
