Crews working to clear floods on roads around Mullingar

That was serious rain last night, and it has caused flooding in many areas.

Council workers are on duty this morning clearing drains and doing what they can to make the roads passable again.

Heavy rain this morning, very heavy in west Leinster with flooding likely in parts. Very strong winds early this morning along eastern coasts will ease. Rain will clear northwards this morning, with brighter weather developing. Showers however will during the afternoon and evening. Some of these will be heavy. Moderate to fresh southwest winds. Highest temperatures of 15 to 17 degrees.

Tonight

Showers will become isolated early tonight, becoming largely dry with clear spells. It will turn cloudy overnight and outbreaks of rain will later develop in south Leinster, turning heavier towards morning. Light to moderate southerly winds will back southeast, but freshen with the rain in the southeast later. Lowest temperatures of 11 to 13 degrees.

Tomorrow

A wet and breezy morning with widespread rain, heavy in places. Rain will clear the through the afternoon allowing sunny spells to develop, however showers will follow and some will be heavy. The best of dry spells will be during the evening. Moderate to fresh southeasterly winds will become southerly later. Highest temperatures of 13 to 16 degrees.
