By hook or by crook, Bo Beep takes top prize in Tyrrellspass

Tyrrellspass Tidy Towns sends its congratulations to Trim, who were crowned Ireland’s Tidiest Town for 2022. Tyrrellspass were delighted to have performed well in the competition this year, having achieved an 11-point increase on 2021, placing it first in Category B in Westmeath and second overall to Ballinahown. Tyrrellspass also won a bronze medal on points achieved in the competition.

Tyrrellspass Tidy Towns hosted its Fancy Dress Ball on Saturday last 29 October at Gonoud’s.

It was an entertaining night with lots of creativity on display. There were cowboys and indians, sailors and pirates, priests and religious. A mummy spectacularly came to life and Queen Cleopatra made an appearance.

Dumb and Dumber were also there but, it was Bo Peep and her lost sheep (Laoise Lane and Didi Fay) who pulled the wool over the eyes of the judges and they are now on their way by hook or by crook to the Clayton Hotel Galway for a two-night stay and dinner.

Congratulations to all the winners. There was also an auction of timber and a raffle draw on the night.

“We are deeply grateful to all our sponsors and benefactors, our sub-committees, members and volunteers who organised everything and to our community and visitors who supported this fantastic event,” said Chairman, Gordon Maxwell.

“The funds raised on the night will help to support the projects ahead that will benefit the community at large.

“Our AGM is scheduled for Thursday 10 November, details are on our Facebook page, and, as always, we invite and welcome new members and volunteers.”
