Soroptimists to mark 30th anniversary at Bloomfield

Mullingar and District Soroptimists are celebrating their 30th anniversary at a lunch in Bloomfield House Hotel, on Sunday November 6. Since their inception in 1991, the club have achieved are huge amount to support the education and empowerment of women and girls in Mullingar.

There are many permanent features that showcase the work of Soroptimists in Mullingar, such as the Pilgrims bronze statue on Austin Friars Street, erected to mark the millennium year.

The welcome signs on the approaches to the town confirm the active presence of Soroptimists in Mullingar, and the dedicated garden seat in the Tranquillity Park, which was commissioned as part of a mental health awareness project, is a permanent reminder of the need to constantly attend to the health and wellbeing of all.

Aside from the permanent features, Mullingar and District Soroptimists have raised almost €500,000 during the 30 years, to support local charities and services, and targeted to enhance the empowerment and education of women and girls.

The projects delivered by the Soroptimists would not have been possible without the ongoing support from the community, and the 30th anniversary lunch in Bloomfield House Hotel on November 6 will celebrate those achievements.

Mullingar and District Soroptimists extend heartfelt thanks to all that have contributed to their work locally over the three decades.

All are welcome to the Bloomfield event, and tickets still available from club president Anne Melly at 0868232868.
