Dr Craig Slattery, a leading toxicologist, will be exploring the science of cosmetics at a unique event for science week event in the Annebrook House Hotel, Mullingar on Thursday next.

‘Beauty and the Chemistry Beasts’ talk for Mullingar

After two years of online delivery due to the impact of Covid-19, the Midlands Science Festival returns this year all across the midlands, with a range of activities for all age groups.

Mullingar is the venue for a unique talk on Thursday next (November 17), when Dr Craig Slattery will be delving deep into the world of beauty and the chemistry beasts in an event separating the science of marketing that often collide in the world of beauty products.

The event is supported by the Royal Society of Chemistry and it will explore, and sometimes explode, the myths, marketing and reality of cosmetic products.

We spend millions every year on everything from sunscreen to lipstick but what are we actually buying and what does some of the labels mean?

Dr Slattery will explore everything from the ingredients to the psychology of beauty and will include an opportunity for the audience to decide on different products in a blind test.

Shopping for cosmetics will never be the same again.

‘Beauty and the chemistry beasts’ takes place on Thursday November 17 at 7.30pm at the Annebrook House Hotel, Mullingar.

Booking for all events is now open and all details are available on www.midlandsscience.ie and on social media channels.

The Midlands Science Festival is supported by Science Foundation Ireland, as part of national Science Week.
