Santa’s flyover at Murtagh’s Christmas Wonderland

Santa arrived from the North Pole in a vintage airplane for a flyover at Murtagh’s Organic Farm Christmas Wonderland on Friday last.

Local pilot Dave Bruton had the honour of flying the big man dressed in red, while Irish singer and musician, Sean Keane, widely known for his distinctive seán nós style voice, switched on the Christmas lights.

Featuring Santa’s Grotto, a live crib, Christmas Market and magical lights, Murtaghs promise a wonderful experience for the family, every weekend this December (Fridays from 4-8pm, Saturdays and Sundays 1-7pm).

“Santa has been feeding his best reindeer in our forest for the last six months building up their strength for their Christmas journey around the world,” said Chris Murtagh. “So, he is with us for the next few weekends meeting all the local boys and girls.”

A family run operation, Murtagh’s Organic Farm is spearheaded by Chris and Grainne Murtagh, and is running for just over a year.

“We have a live crib with donkeys, goats, sheep, ducks, pigs, hens, and life size statues created by artist Clare Kelly,” said Chris.

“There will be 20 stall holders on site each day, but they will be changing every day, guaranteeing a different experience each time people come and visit.”

Murtagh’s Organic Farm Winter Wonderland experience is a half a mile outside Ballynacargy, at N91KW92.
