Delvin plans for St Patrick’s Day

The Delvin St Patrick’s Day committee have announced that the annual festival is going ahead this year.

The event will take place from 2pm to 5pm on St Patrick’s Day, March 17.

The Delvin to Clonmellon road between The Church of the Assumption and Mulligan’s cross will be closed and pedestrianised for the event.

This year’s festival is sponsored by Bracklyn Wind farms, Home Instead and Westmeath County Council.

This year’s festival has the theme of ‘Green’, to reflect a focus on keeping the community environmentally well.

Each part of the festival will carry the green ethos on the day.

The festival will be fun for all the family, with music, food and entertainment, including sideshows, vintage cars and more attractions. It is a fun day for all ages and everyone is welcome.

The committee are also holding a raffle to raise funds for the festival – the first prize, sponsored by Bracklyn Wind Farms, is €1000 off your electricity bill; second prize is a €500 voucher for the Farnham Estate hotel and Spa; and third prize is dinner for four in the Twelve Points Restaurant at Killua Castle, which is sponsored by Lorena and Allen Krausse.

Tickets cost €5 each and can be purchased on iDonate via the Delvin St Patrick’s Day Festival Facebook page or from any committee member. Committee members will be selling tickets outside Buckley’s SuperValu, Mullingar on February 18, and in Harbour Place Shopping centre on March 11. All support is greatly appreciated and welcome.
