Martial Arts success for Eva

A Mullingar martial arts club enjoyed success at the recent Stanley Junior Novice Open in Bolton, England.

The Relentless Martial Arts Club had five winning participants and among them was Eva Barron, who was successful in the Muay Thai discipline. Eva is eight years old and is a really good competitor. This was her second fight in Muay Thai having previously fought in England and she produced a fine performance, stopping her opponent in the second round.

Eva trains twice daily, from Monday to Friday, showing serious dedication to her chosen sport. Her next big fight is at Barnsley Metrodome in the Sandee Supershow on April 29.

The Relentless Martial Arts Club is run by Alan McCormack and his wife Danni, herself a prominent competitor in mixed martial arts (MMA). They have been active for the past seven years in Mullingar and had 10 children in Bolton for the event. For the past three years, they have been operating out of a unit on the Lynn Road, near O’Brien’s supermarket.

There are 150 children active at the Relentless Martial Arts Club and they all enjoy the activity. They work in three disciplines, Muay Thai, Wrestling and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.

“There’s great interest from all the children and they show wonderful dedication,” remarked Alan.

Children from four years of age upwards are welcome to join and the first trial is free. Contact Alan on 083 4028636.
