Mullingar Soroptimists – supporting local charities

Mullingar Soroptimists recently presented a number of cheques to local charities that are involved in supporting the needs of women and girls in the community.

Following the 16-day campaign in November and December 2022 to support the abolition of gender violence, cheques for €3,000 were presented to Pearl Brock of Good2Talk and Fidelma Bennett of Temporary Emergency Accommodation Midlands (TEAM).

Both charities have experienced significant demand for their services and new referrals have been identified following the abolition of violence campaign. The funding provided will enable support for women and girls that are victims of domestic violence and abuse.

A cheque was also presented to Bríd Galligan and Brian Willoughby of Mullingar Meals on Wheels, who provide an invaluable service for many people living alone in the locality.

Barnardos work to support children and families that have challenges and referrals for their service in Mullingar have increased post-Covid. The €2,000 presented to the Lir Youth and Family Project in Mullingar will enable additional referrals to be facilitated in the coming months.

Mullingar Soroptimists are ever grateful to the public that support their various fundraising events and to those donors that provide financial support on an annual basis.
