Rain today, sometimes heavy, but mild weather

Today will be cloudy and misty with hill and coastal fog. This morning there will be rain in Ulster and Connacht and patches of light rain or drizzle elsewhere. The rain in Ulster and Connacht will clear northeastwards later this morning but more rain will move in across the country from the west during the afternoon and evening, with occasional heavy falls. Mild with highest temperatures of 11 to 15 degrees, in a moderate to fresh southerly breeze.

Early tonight there will be rain in the north and east and scattered showers elsewhere, some heavy. The rain will clear northwards overnight but the showers will continue countrywide and may develop into longer spells of rain at times in the south and east. Lowest temperatures of 6 to 9 degrees with moderate to fresh south to southwest winds.

Tomorrow will start with scattered showers and some sunny intervals. Rain will move into the west during the morning and will spread across the rest of the country, with some heavy falls in the south and west during the afternoon and evening. Becoming quite windy later in the day as moderate south to southwest winds increase fresh to strong and gusty. Highest temperatures of 10 to 13 degrees.

Wet and windy early Tuesday night, followed by showery and sometimes breezy conditions for the rest of the week.

Wednesday will be breezy and blustery with showers becoming widespread and sometimes heavy. Best of the sunny spells will be in the morning. Highest temperatures of 9 to 11 degrees with a moderate to fresh and gusty southwesterly wind, strong near the coast.

Showers will become confined mainly to Atlantic coastal counties on Wednesday night, with long dry and clear spells elsewhere. Lowest temperatures of 3 to 6 degrees in a moderate southwesterly breeze.

Many areas will be dry with sunny spells on Thursday morning, although there will be showers in Atlantic coastal counties. The showers will spread across the country during the afternoon and will turn heavy at times, but it will become drier again in the evening. Highest temperatures of 9 to 12 degrees with moderate south to southwest winds, occasionally turning fresh and gusty.

Some showers in the north and west overnight on Thursday but otherwise dry with clear spells. Lowest temperatures of 3 to 6 degrees in a light south to southwest wind.

Friday will bring similar weather to Thursday with sunny spells and isolated showers in the morning and evening but more widespread showers during the afternoon. Highest temperatures of 9 to 13 degrees with a moderate southwesterly breeze.
