Cllr Ken Glynn wants to know why the roundabout at this busy junction in Mullingar hasn't been reinstated.

McDonald’s roundabout: 'my patience is running out'

Controversy over the proposed reinstatement of a roundabout at McDonald’s in Mullingar surfaced again at the March meeting of Municipal District of Mullingar Kinnegad.

Cllr Ken Glynn said it had been two and a half years since the councillors voted for the return of the roundabout and declared, “my patience is running out”.

“I want answers and actions and my motion acted upon,” he demanded.

He said the traffic problems have not gone away and asked for an update on the situation for the next meeting.

Pat Kavanagh, district engineer, said that a consultants’ report on junctions and orbital routes is to be prepared to give a bigger picture of the traffic situation in and around Mullingar town. He expects to have that report soon.

Cllr Glynn said that immediate measures had to be put in place to alleviate the problems in the town centre in the meantime.

It is making a mockery of a decision we took, he said adding that people are hugely frustrated at the delays.
