Miriam meets Minaguchi

Dympna Minaguchi from Mullingar was presented with a certificate in media training by RTÉ broadcaster Miriam O’Callaghan and by Disability Federation of Ireland CEO, John Dolan.

The 63-year-old was diagnosed with Glaucoma six years ago and now has vision impairment, leading Dympna to become more aware of challenges faced by disabled people.

Since her diagnosis, Dympna has joined a rehab organisation in Mullingar and is hoping to use her newly gained media training skills to raise more awareness about disability and the issues disabled people face.

Dympna recently completed the media training course with DFI which was held over four Mondays in March.

DFI was delighted to welcome Miriam O'Callaghan to present the certificates to the class in the DFI offices in Dublin on Monday March 27 last.

Miriam offered wonderful encouragement to the self-advocates and highlighted the importance of sharing their story as the experts in disability and especially the lived experience.
