€435,000 funding for LWETB

An allocation of €435,000 to the Longford Westmeath Education Training Board has been welcomed by Minister Peter Burke.

“This funding is devolved to the local education training boards to allow them to progress capital projects in their areas which they deem to be a priority in our schools and learning centres,” Minister Burke said when the allocation was announced. “Crucially, the decision making process is at local level and identified projects are progressed where real needs arise.”

Minister Burke said the funding can be used for small scale works including infrastructure and improvements, and the purchase of equipment.

“This grant aid is provided under Project 2040 and forms part of the ongoing investment in the further education and training (FET) sector and I acknowledge the help of my colleague, Minister Simon Harris in progressing it,” he said. “Using this grant, ETBs will be able to carry out work such as upgrades to computer labs and science labs, replacement of apprenticeship equipment, roof works and planned improvement works of FET buildings.”
