Westmeath Bachelor Festival looking for eligible men for this year's event

The Westmeath Bachelor Festival has put a call out for contestants for this year's competition.

In a post on social media, the festival organisers said that they are seeking applicants “from all walks of life and backgrounds with charisma, charm, a bubbly personality and a social conscience”.

This year's instalment of the legendary competition, which returned with a bang last year, will take place in Mullingar Arts Centre on July 29. Celebrity judges Anne Doyle and Louis Walsh are returning once again this year, along with “special celebrity guest” judges.

Applicants must be single and aged over 18 by May 1. This year the prizes include a holiday and a trophy.

Speaking to the Westmeath Examiner, one of the founders of the festival Tomas Nally said that preparations for this year's event are “flying” and that there will be a major announcement about the future direction of the festival in the coming days.

Last year's winner was musician and farmer Bryan Murphy from Kerry.
