Whole village effort means huge night at Tyrrellspass LGFA fashion show

There was a full house in The Barn, Tyrrellspass for the Tyrrellspass LGFA Fashion Show on Saturday week last, April 1. “We could not have asked for a better night. To see so many people come out to support the club was just incredible,” said Bernie O’Brien, chief organiser.

“Our MCs, Elizabeth Fleming (of Classy and Elegance) and Paddy Geraghty, were simply outstanding. And each of our models did a superb job, and looked amazing doing so.

“We’d like to thank them all for participating in the show and making it such a memorable night.

“The Barn looked fantastic; we are grateful to David and Amy Smyth, and their staff, for the use of the premises and for being so obliging over the last few weeks.”

The show would not have been possible if it wasn’t for the generosity of local retailers. With a mix of shops from Mullingar and Tullamore, there was something on display for everyone. A massive thank-you to the owners and staff of Classy and Elegance, Guy Clothing, KC Sports, Kode Clothing and Footwear, O’Neill’s (Tyrrellspass LGFA Online Shop), Paco, Pamela Scott, Texas Tullamore, Vera Moda and Wilfs Clothing Store, for working with our models and coordinating all the fabulous outfits that were displayed on the night.

“It was certainly a team effort, and we hope the show encourages people to support these wonderful businesses by shopping locally as much as possible in the future,” said Bernie Alford, club secretary.

“A big expression of gratitude also needs to go to everyone who sponsored raffle prizes on the night. We had a range of vouchers and prizes from the retail outlets involved in the show, a 50-inch TV from The Esker Inn (Tyrrellspass), two nights in the Clayton Hotel, Galway, a four-ball in Moyvalley from Brendan Ennis (Killucan), along with vouchers and hampers from local mechanic Billy Maher, Bethlehem Take Away (Tyrrellspass), Days Bazaar (Mullingar), 21 Male Grooming (Mullingar), Tyrrellspass Castle, O’Brien’s Centra (Mullingar) and Mark Wright Total Health Pharmacy (Tyrrellspass).

“Your support and generosity are very much appreciated by everyone on the committee.”

They say it takes a village to raise a child – well, the same can be said for organising a fashion show! Tyrrellspass LGFA are extremely grateful to Declan Feery for providing music for the night; all the locals who helped behind the scenes with stage setup; Tara Hynes for doing make up; Pat Feery for videoing the event; Gary McGivney for the fabulous photos and Denise Gavigan O’Brien (Laurell Signs Ltd) for printing tickets and posters.

“A special mention must also go to local men Johnny Ryan and Johnny Feery for providing half-time entertainment – they had the whole crowd in stitches!

“Finally, our biggest thank you must go to everyone who attended on the night. The money raised will go a long way in funding the Tyrrellspass Ladies club, across all age groups, throughout the season in what will hopefully be a successful year for Tyrrellspass Ladies.

“So a massive thank you from all at Tyrrellspass LGFA.”
