Local woman retires from council after 41 years of service

This week after 41 years of service Yvonne Dooner retired from Westmeath County Council.

Yvonne is well known to many people given her long distinguished service in Athlone Urban District Council, Athlone Town Council and now Athlone Moate Municipal District.

Cllr Aengus O'Rourke congratulated Yvonne saying: "On my behalf and that of my elected colleagues and indeed on behalf of the thousands of people Yvonne supported down through the years, I want to say a big thank you to Yvonne for her commitment and professionalism for so many years.

"Yvonne will be a huge loss to the council. She is extremely well respected by management and staff alike. Yvonne is much loved and admired by her colleagues, it will take some time to get used to not having Yvonne around the office. However, she has promised to stay in touch on a regular basis.

"We all wish Yvonne a long, healthy and happy retirement," Cllr O'Rourke concluded.
