Robbie backs 'Go Purple Day' this Friday

'Go Purple Day' is this Friday, April 28 and this year it has the backing of Ireland rugby international Robbie Henshaw.

The initiative was launched a number of years ago by Garda Stacey Looby of Athlone Garda station and what started out as a local event is now a national one.

The aim of this day is to show all men and women victims of domestic violence the supports available to them in times of need.

On April 28th people are being asked to wear or bake or sow something purple, just in general be creative with the colour purple while creating an awareness and sharing the help lines of local domestic violence services.

Gardai Stacey Looby was recently welcomed to Buccaneers Rugby Football Club where she was grateful of the assistance by the club and Ireland international Robbie Henshaw in promoting 'Go Purple Day'.

£Since these photos went on social media they have helped create a massive awareness for this year’s ‘Go Purple Day' and I sincerely thank the Buccaneers club for that,” said Gda Looby.
