Path from Rathwire to Killucan station 'a significant capital project'

Provision of a walkway from Rathwire village to Killucan station would be “a significant capital project” the executive of the Municipal District of Mullingar Kinnegad has stated.

The team were addressing a motion submitted for the April meeting of the Municipal District of Mullingar Kinnegad by Cllr Denis Leonard proposing that the district consider a plan to make a submission for a safe walkway from Rathwire village out to Killucan station through Just Transition, Active Travel or other funding streams.

“Westmeath County Council continue to apply for various grants for walkways,” the written reply stated.

After pointing out that the walkway would be a significant capital project, the executive said that notwithstanding that, grant aid would be pursued.
