Westmeath native wins player of the month at Shamrock Rovers
Loughnavalley's Jessica Hennessy has picked up the Player of the Month award for April at her club Shamrock Rovers.
In a post on the club's Facebook page, Shamrock Rovers said that Hennessy, who moved to the club in the close-season from Athlone Town, had put in "a string of impressive performances in the heart of our defence in recent weeks".
The former Westmeath LGFA player has enjoyed a good start to her Shams career and is a important cog in what has been the meanest defence in the opening months of the Women's Premier Division.
Thanks in no small part to their defence, which has conceded only four goals in their first seven league matches, Rovers currently lie third in the Premier Division with 15 points. Peamount United lead the league with 19 points from eight matches.
Hennessy's former club Athlone Town are in fourth place with 13 points from seven matches.
