Mullingar Concert Band host Ballymore-Eustace Concert Band at St Paul's

Following the success of last year’s concert in St Paul’s with the Irish Midlands Youth Orchestra, the Mullingar Concert Band return to the same venue on May 20, for a joint concert with the Ballymore-Eustace Concert Band.

With a programme ranging from The Beach Boys to Burt Bacharach, music from the movies and stage, Irish airs and of course some rousing marches, the Mullingar Concert Band are looking forward to showcasing their new repertoire, as well as some old favourites, and to sharing the stage with the Ballymore-Eustace band.

Ballymore-Eustace Concert Band, founded in 1875, are community based and intergenerational. They compete and entertain at the highest levels in Ireland, at a events from village fairs to Electric Picnic.

Jon Clifford has directed the band since 2011, and their current, eclectic repertoire features music from several genres including classical music, swing, jazz, music from movies and musicals and rock and pop arrangements.

The Mullingar Concert Band, with conductor John Walsh, were launched in autumn 2021 with the aim of encouraging adult musicians of varying standards to join together to play music, learn, socialise and have fun.

They are part, and a natural extension, of the renowned Mullingar Town Band and many members previously played with the Town Band over the years.
