Fagan runs 16:28 for 5000m

Mullingar athlete Claire Fagan competed at the Portland Twilight meet at the campus of Lewis and Clark University in Portland, Oregon at the weekend.

Claire raced in the 5000m and was consistent in the early stages as she stuck to 79 second per lap pace.

Claire finished strongly with a 73s last lap and crossed the line in a new personal best of 16:28.38.

Claire has made steady improvements in recent years.

She has improved her 5000m PB each year – 16:48 in 2020; 16:43 in 2021; 16:32 in 2022.

This week also marks the end of the two years Claire has been studying on an athletic scholarship at the University of Portland.
