Disability and older persons services and information event

Westmeath Community Development Disability Working Group, in conjunction with Independent People with Disabilities (IPWD) and Westmeath County Council, has organised the annual free information event services related to disability and for older people in Bloomfield House Hotel on Monday May 22 (10am-1.30pm).

The event has received a small grant from Westmeath County Council. It has been successful in previous years, as it brings together service providers and service users. In previous years, more than 230 people attended and 40 service providers took part.

The first of the guest speakers is at 11am, and they include the cathaoirleach of Westmeath County Council, Cllr Aengus O’Rourke, Mark Ahern from IPWD, Annette Barr Jordan on the Westmeath Age friendly Strategy, Ann Moran from Westmeath Healthy Homes, and Donal Murphy from the Alzheimer Society of Ireland (more to be confirmed).

Put the date in your diary and go along to have a cup of tea or coffee and a chat and find out about how the different agencies can help you, said a spokesperson for Westmeath Community Development.

MC for the event is Linda-Jo Quinn, SICAP community development co-ordinator, who is the principal organiser. Ms Quinn can take queries on 087 250 0161 or ljquinn@westcd.ie. Stands are filling up fast, so hurry if you want your organisation to be part of the event.
