Auction results show ‘great confidence in the midlands agricultural sector’

Murtagh Bros held an online auction for “an attractive” c.41.5 acre property at Ballinacarrow, Ballynacargy, in a number of lots on Thursday May 3.

The lots were divided as c.15.5 acres, selling for €180,000 under the hammer of agricultural land, and the c.26 acres of forestry was withdrawn at €110,000 and sold for significantly higher after auction.

The auction was conducted by Dillon Murtagh of Murtagh Bros.

On Thursday 11 May, the firm had an online auction for c.29.5 acres at Rathconnell, Ballynacargy, laid out in neat divisions.

A number of committed bidders made it a lively and competitive auction, again conducted by Mr Murtagh, and the hammer fell at €340,000.

On Friday May 12, they had an online auction for c.32 acres at Rathcore, Dysart, “of excellent grassland”. Following a lot of interest, they had a competitive auction among a number of committed bidders.

The property went on the market at €350,000, and the hammer fell after achieving a sale figure of €465,000. The auction was conducted by Mr Murtagh.

Pointing out the figures – Rathconnell: €11,500 per acre; Rathcore: €14,500 per acre, he said they “show great confidence among buyers in the agricultural sector in the midlands”.
