Columba College celebrate annual awards night

Columba College celebrated their annual awards night on Wednesday last, May 17, when a wide variety of awards were presented, including for attendance, extracurricular activities and for the range of subjects taught.

The first awards of the night were the Class Spirit Awards, Progress Awards, Student of the Year Awards, the Blossom Award and the Confucius Award – which is the Principal’s Award.

The Class Spirit award recognises students who make the school the place it is today. The recipients are students who embody the Columba College ethos; they are students who ensure that everyone feels that they are part of something greater than themselves. Congratulations to Daniel Connolly, Luke Kiernan, Ciaran Jinks, Ruth Shanley, Lucy Geraghty and Cian O’Neill.

The Student Progress Award highlights those who have put in hard work and commitment in their academic studies and extracurricular activities. These students recognised were Tyron Diasanta, Sophia Pragerova, Daithi Connolly, Hannah Finnerty, Darren Holmes and Quin O’Grady.

The Student of the Year Award is conferred on students who excelled academically and served as positive role models in Columba College – congratulations to Zaizyx Kimber, Ilinca Croitor, Aniela Elwartowska and Keeva Franco.

The four main awards on the night were the Transition Year Blossom Award, Junior Student of the Year, Senior Student of the Year and the Principal’s Award.

The Blossom Award was awarded to Oscar Tracey, who excelled in TY.

The Junior Student of the Year Award is sponsored by the North Midlands Credit Union, as just one of their generous contributions to the school community and, as always, their continued support is appreciated. Junior Student of the Year was awarded to Evan Glennon.

The Senior Student of the Year Award was sponsored by Trend Technologies. Columba College has a long standing relationship with the firm, and their support and contribution is greatly appreciated. The Senior Student of the Year Award was awarded to Grace Lynch.

The final award of the night was the Principal’s Confucius Award, which acknowledges a student who flourished during their time in Columba College. Congratulations to Donna Allen on winning the award.
