River Inny 100km Challenge 2023 funds handed over

The team who did and helped with the River Inny 100km Challenge have raised a total of €15,256 for LARCC. Bernie McHugh, LARCC general manager, said: “These funds are a support beyond measure for those at a time when they are most vulnerable.”

Una Bourke, Noel Murtagh and team said: there are more thank-yous needed than names can say; starting every participant, every person who was part of our logistics and manual handling, every sandwich and cup of tea made, every piece of equipment loaned or used, every share by social media or word of mouth; safety marshals, transport and catering teams, our sponsors, our supporters.

On the water is truly the easy bit, so a genuine thank-you to everyone who has been a part of making this a reality. We are pleased to hand over a cheque of this magnitude to Cancer Support Sanctuary LARCC. We are grateful to each and every supporter of our challenge, and for every donation made.

The fundraiser was a kayak journey on the full length of the River Inny, starting in Lough Sheelin in County Cavan and going to Lough Ree on the Shannon spanning a total distance of 100km.

The support this year and last year has meant that this idea could come to life, and is a great opportunity for us to come together while raising funds for the local cause Cancer Support Sancturay LARCC, said Una and Noel.
