Davitt not ‘appy’ with parking signage

Motorists using the parking app to pay for parking in Mullingar are still having to walk to the nearest parking meter in order to find out what zone they are in.

A solution would be to erect small signs on the streets giving the parking code Cllr Aoife Davitt suggested when she raised the issue at the May meeting of the Mullingar Kinnegad Municipal District.

"The app is absolutely amazing; the feedback has been brilliant," Cllr Davitt said.

"The issue is that the person still needs to walk to the machine to find out what location they are in."

Cllr Davitt said there are already poles in each street for signage, and small signs could be placed on those giving the codes which currently are only displayed on the sides of the parking machines.

"It’s only a small thing but it would make a huge difference," she said.

District engineer Pat Kavanagh agreed that could be done.
