Funds from screenings of Millie’s Maxol Magic donated

A charity that means a lot to Millie Walsh has benefited to the tune of more than €2000, funds raised through the screenings of Millie’s Maxol Magic in Mullingar in April.

The local filmmakers, Ethan Scally and Conor English, have handed over the funds (€2250 in total) to representatives of the St Camillus Nursing Home, Killucan.

Speaking on behalf of Conor and himself, Ethan said: “We are extremely thankful to the people of Mullingar and those who came from further afield to attend Millie’s Maxol Magic for three sold out nights, two in The Greville Arms Hotel and one in the new Omniplex Cinema in Mullingar.

“We donated the ticket proceeds of the premiere and subsequent donations to St Camillus Nursing Home as it is a charity close to Millie’s heart. The remaining ticket revenue was used for audio costs and to enter the film into Irish and international film festivals.

“Conor and I feel proud and privileged to have been able to capture the magic of Millie Walsh on film and celebrate his life and career serving the people of Mullingar.

“We made the film independently, with no funding whatsoever, and have plans for two more local films, one’s a short and one’s a feature – the feature film would capture Mullingar in a light that’s never been seen before, so if any organisation or individual out there with deep pockets wants to help us finance our next project please get in touch!”

The €2,250 they donated will towards the patients comfort fund at the St Camillus Nursing Home.
