Pat Shortt in Mullingar filming for new docuseries

Actor, comedian and writer, Pat Shortt was in Mullingar to film a new docuseries with Mike Hanrahan of Stocktons Wing.

The pair are taking a road trip around Ireland, talking songs and music from across the nation.

In Mullingar, they met with Cronin who performed a version of 'The Reason I Left Mullingar', a song made famous by The Furey Brothers and Davey Arthur.

Shortt plays the mandolin on a version of 'The Reason I Left Mullingar'.

Written by Pat Cooksey, the folk song is about emigration from Ireland in the 1980s to London, where many an Irish person went looking for work.

Cronin are releasing the song for Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann.

Filming took place in Dolan's Bar, where Shortt and Hanrahan also talked to entertainer Ray Dolan.

It's understood the series will air later in the autumn.
