Going to the loo at Tudenham

Where do you go if you need to use the loo at Tudenham?

Home is the answer if your demand arises any time between October and May.

At the June meeting of the Municipal District of Mullingar Kinnegad, Cllr Ken Glynn asked if the district would consider opening the public toilets at Tudenham, Lough Ennell, all year round, but the response from the district was that Westmeath County Council currently funds the supervision and maintenance of the toilets only during the summer months (June to September).

“There is no plan to provide the service outside this period,” the response concluded.

Cllr Glynn was disappointed at the response: “We have put in, at huge cost, extended facilities out there and it makes no sense that we have no facilities all year round,” he said, going on to appeal to the council to review the situation, given that there is an excellent amenity in place.

Responding, administrative officer Catherine Darby said the issue could be re-examined with a view to seeing if a budget could be found.
