A muggy day ahead with patchy rain affecting many areas

Today, Tuesday June 27, will be a rather cloudy, muggy day, with patchy light rain, drizzle and mist affecting many areas. Clearer weather with some limited sunny spells, especially in the southeast and east, will develop in late afternoon or early evening. Highest temperatures of 19 to 24 degrees generally, warmest in the southeast and east with the best of any sunny spells. Cooler though for Atlantic coastal fringes with highest temperatures of 18 or 19 degrees, all in moderate to fresh southwesterly winds.

Mostly cloudy tonight with patchy light rain, drizzle and mist. More persistent rain will push into the west later in the night, tracking eastwards over much of the western half of the country by morning. Temperatures not falling below 13 to 16 degrees with a mostly light southwest to west wind.

TOMORROW - Wednesday 28th June

Rain will continue to track eastwards tomorrow morning, clearing into the Irish Sea towards the early afternoon. The rain will be followed by sunny spells and showers with a moderate west to northwest wind. Becoming mainly dry later in the afternoon. Highest temperatures of 17 to 21 degrees generally.

Mainly dry and sunny Thursday with fair weather, cloud and isolated showers in the afternoon. Highest temperatures of 18 to 20 degrees in a moderate westerly breeze.

Mainly dry with clear spells at first Thursday night, rain will develop in the west and spread eastwards later. Lowest temperatures of 12 or 13 degrees in a moderate westerly breeze.

Rain will become widespread on Friday, turning heavy at times, especially in the west, drier conditions will persist longest in the south and southeast. Westerly winds will freshen with highest temperatures of 17 to 19 degrees.

Saturday will be mainly dry with sunny spells and isolated showers. Highest temperatures 20 or 21 degrees with moderate to fresh westerly winds.

The extended outlook continues the unsettled spell with temperatures a little lower than recently and rain or showers at times on a moderate to fresh westerly wind.
