Rochfortbridge BC's O'Herron wins third national title

Rochfortbridge Boxing Club's Carley O'Herron cemented her position as one of Ireland's finest young female boxers when she recently won her third national title.

After a very impressive unanimous decision in her semi final against a good boxer from Dealgan BC, Rochfortbrige boxer Carley O'Herron went on to meet Alanna Murphy from Crumlin BC in the final.

Carley dominated the contest with sharp combinations against the aggressive and highly rated Dublin boxer and won again by unanimous decision to take home a third national title.

This competition in the past has been the qualifier for the European Championships. Last year Carley, despite being the youngest girl in her age category, brought a first European medal back to Rochfortbridge BC when she went all the way to the final where she put in a great performance but had to settle for a silver medal.

It would be great to go back this year a year older but unfortunately, due to a split in world boxing, Ireland probably won't be sending a team.

Either way, Carley is one of Ireland's most promising female juvenile boxers and has a very bright future ahead of her. This hard working and mannerly young lady is getting better all the time but knows better than anyone that there is room for loads more. To borrow a line "a lot done, a lot more to do".
