Two locals feature in new music video for local band

Two local members of Dancezone Stage School in Moate recently appeared in a new music video for folk band Stephen Rosney & The Back Axles.

The video saw Anne Kelly and Sam Mellett feature as mother and son in the video for the song 'Brown Bread', written and recorded by Offaly singer Stephen Rosney with The Back Axles. Owner of the stage school, Sandra Julian said: “Anne has been Head of Wardrobe and involved in making numerous costumes for Dancezone for over 28 years and is an invaluable member of the team. Sam is just nine years of age and has been a member of Dancezone for six years having sang and performed in every production since he started.” He also has featured and sang on the video cover 'You will be Found' recorded by members of the school in September 2021 which can be seen on You Tube.

Anne and Sam's appearance in the video also featured on the TG4 show 'Viva Ceol Tíre' last May. The music video was recorded last September in a scenic cottage in Taughmaconnell.

Mick Bracken of Bracken Entertainment was the creative director on site who has worked with many recording artists across the country and has filmed numerous videos for Viva Ceol Tire, TG4 over the last 30 years. The company has worked with Dancezone Stage School for over 25 years and many members of the school have featured in their videos for artists such as Foster & Allen, TR Dallas and John McNicholl.

The Back Axles are a bluegrass/folk band based in the midlands. Through his love of music from an early age, Stephen set about pursuing this with the formation of the band and they have worked alongside writers including several based in Nashville. They have an avid following both here and abroad and were nominated for Best Original Irish band at the Irish Entertainment Awards in 2019.

Dancezone are fast approaching 30 years in business next year and are still creating stars.
