Clonmore site ‘needs cleaning’

A request that the owner of the old shopping centre building in Clonmore be asked to clean it up immediately and keep it maintained on a regular basis was made by Cllr Ken Glynn at the most recent meeting of the Municipal District of Mullingar Kinnegad.

Cllr Glynn said the site was “an absolute eyesore and a disgrace”.

The formal written response from the district stated that Westmeath County Council has been in contact with the building owner and the agent regarding the condition of the building.

“A commitment has been given by the owner to undertake immediate remedial works and the situation will continue to be monitored and a derelict site notice will be issued if agreed works are not complete,” the response concluded.
