Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine Charlie McConalogue is coming to open Mullingar Agricultural Show Sunday (July 9) at 2pm.
By that time the show will be well through its busy schedule.
Here is just a sample of the highlights.
Sheep Shearing starts at 2pm. There are open and confined classes, and all shearers are welcome. The Raphie Kelleghan Cup is up for grabs, and there is also Queen of the Shears prize.
Cattle showing starts at 10.30am, and will finish with the Champion of Champions at approximately 3.30pm.
This year, the organisers promise a fashion show with a difference, one that will showcase style that is kind to the environment and to the bank balance.
It starts at 2pm in front of the indoor classes shed. Thanks to Cathy from Indulgence, Mullingar for styling the models’ hair.
When you’re there, you will also be treated to some dancing by Elevate Academy of Dance and Rising Stars Performing Arts Academy.
The show hosts the Valais Blacknose Sheep All Ireland competition – an opportunity to see these beauties from leading Irish breeders.
The Unaffiliated Clear Round Show Jumping is also part of the show.
Live music starts at noon with Noel Briody; then it’s Declan Nerney at 3-5pm; and Ray Dolan will close the day, playing in the bar area from 5pm.
