Success for Olympic Boxing Club and local competitors

Olympic boxing club Mullingar had boxers competing at the recent National Junior Cadets finals and they came away with three champions.

The successful boxers were: 33kg, Pat Stokes; 36kg, Louise Joyce; and 50kg, Jason Donoghue.

All three boxers emerged victorious in their finals and are now available to be selected to represent their country for internationals. It’s a great honour for the boxers and for the high achieving Mullingar club.

Elsewhere, in the 44kg event, Kayla Nevin lost on a very close decision to the Dublin champion in the final.

Following that the Olympic Boxing Club headed for Monkstown to take part in the International Box Cup and the Senior Cadets. With 11 champions (gold medals) and 3 silver medals, Olympic BC emerged as the best boxing club.

Well done to everyone involved in the boxing club, great achievements year in, year out by all. There were 229 boxing clubs taking part, so this was a fine achievement.
