Harris visits Mullingar for update on new National Centre of Excellence for EVs

Minister Simon Harris visited Mullingar on Thursday to receive an update on the new National Centre of Excellence for Electric Vehicles planned for Columb Barracks .

Also in attendance at the meeting convened by Minister Peter Burke were representatives from LWETB, Solas, TUS, Department of Further and Higher Education, Department of Defence and Councillor Andrew Duncan.

Each delegation gave an update on plans for the centre, and the meeting agreed to meet again in September with a further progress report.

Mullingar Minister for European Affairs Peter Burke said that the centre will mark "a new, exciting chapter for Mullingar, providing its first large-scale educational facility".

He said it was important to keep momentum going on the project, ensure the planning continues to progress at pace and said he will be in a position to provide a public update on plans later this year.
