Delay in link to Joe Dolan Bridge queried by Leonard

Work on a link road connecting the Joe Dolan Bridge and the Mullingar Business Park was meant to have been completed by the end of 2021, but has still not begun, Cllr Denis Leonard complained at a recent meeting of the Municipal District of Mullingar Kinnegad.

The Labour man asked for an update, and for “the exact time frame” for construction of the road.

“It was promised to be completed in Quarter 4 of 2021,” Cllr Leonard reminded officials.

“It is vital for taking traffic out of town.”

The official written response from the district executive stated that the project is currently at design stage, which will be completed in Q4 of this year.

“Concurrently, engagement has taken place with the landowner with a view to necessary land transfer,” the response concluded.

Rochfortbridge

At the same meeting, Cllr Leonard asked for a commitment that the planters promised to solve the parking issue at the front of Bagnall’s in Rochfortbridge be installed.

The work was meant to have been done two years ago, Cllr Leonard said.

“Planters/bollards will be installed at this location,” the official written response to the query stated.

“Certainly they will be there in the next couple of weeks,” district engineer Pat Kavanagh assured Cllr Leonard.
