Bun Daire Residents Group Kinnegad celebrate unity and diversity

A Bun Daire Kinnegad community event was a celebration of the rich diversity and culture that thrives among residents. The event had been planned during a well-attended meeting on May 23, and the organisers were delighted that it exceeded their expectations, and solidified the spirit of unity in the community.

Held on Saturday last, August 12, (noon-3pm), the event included performances from Bozo the Clown, magic acts, and sessions led by dance instructor Chris Beirne, cultural displays and tantalising cuisines,

The event showcased the talents of community members and extended a warm invitation to newcomers, including Ukrainian residents, to share their perspectives and traditions.

Everyone enjoyed the dancing, including local councillor, Denis Leonard, in a gesture that underscored the importance of unity and cultural appreciation.

One highlight was a raffle for hampers contributed by local businesses; and a commitment to environmental responsibility was evident as collaboration with the council ensured a pristine event space.

The clean-up efforts and planning ensured a safe and welcoming environment for all.

The Westmeath Community Development SICAP programme provided a €1500 grant, which significantly expanded the scope and impact of the day.

Plans are already in motion for the next gathering.

Bun Daire Residents Group want to thank everyone for their support, involvement and attendance.
