Athlone Gardaí rescue injured swan

Athlone Gardaí responded to a call this morning related to a distressed swan injured on the N6 near junction 12.

Luckily, Garda Darren Murphy and Garda Tricia O'Connor managed to catch the swan and it's now being taken to the vets by a kind lady who volunteers for the ISPCA.

Taking to social media, Garda Síochána Westmeath said: "An Garda Siochana deal with all types of calls.

"We hope the swan will make a full recovery. All in a day's work."
